Stative Verb

There's generally no adj. in Hebrew. Instead, stative verbs are used to represent meanings like "be adj.". They can be divided into 3 types based on the vowel:

pathach tsere cholem
גָּדַל, be great כָּבֵד, be heavy קָטֹן, be small
חָכַם, be intelligent זָכֵן, be old יָכֹל, be able

The pathach and tsere types are conjugated according to the same patterns like normal verbs, except that the 3MS form (base form) of tsere type has a tsere instead of a pathach. The cholem type is special, like below:
