Stative Verb
There's generally no adj. in Hebrew. Instead, stative verbs are used to represent meanings like "be adj.". They can be divided into 3 types based on the vowel:
pathach | tsere | cholem |
---|---|---|
גָּדַל, be great | כָּבֵד, be heavy | קָטֹן, be small |
חָכַם, be intelligent | זָכֵן, be old | יָכֹל, be able |
The pathach and tsere types are conjugated according to the same patterns like normal verbs, except that the 3MS form (base form) of tsere type has a tsere instead of a pathach. The cholem type is special, like below:
